I love to grill. I’ll grill everything possible. Meat, fruit, veggies, I recently pinned grilled cheese, like actual cheese grilled. It’s just plain good. The charred smokey taste, the ease of cleanup. It’s aaaallll good. When we moved from Florida we did not bring our propane grill. It was rusted inside of the humidity and salt air and just would have been a hassle. So on our first night in our new house we quick grabbed a basic charcoal grill from lowes. I’ve never cooked on charcoal before but was totally converted. Then two weeks ago my husband surprised me with a Primo XL grill. I wanted to give it a good go around before writing a full review on it, I’ve used it about ten times and am so happy to say it’s amazing.

This grill is a tad bit intimidating. Its huge and watching my husband set it up was quite a feat. But cooking on it is the exact opposite. It’s extremly user-friendly. Once you do it once its easy. I have cooked steaks, pork chops, fish, pizza, chicken breasts and ribs on it. The grill gets extremely hot but with the bottom hatch and the top daisy wheel you can easily lower and regulate your temperature. Once you get to your desired temperature it stays put. I cooked ribs for 8 hours on memorial day and was able to keep the temp at 225 degrees the entire time. The lid also has a gasket so when you close it, it’s air tight, keeping in the heat and the moisture. The lump charcoal also lasts forever with this grill. I smoked ribs for 8 hours with a full grill of charcoal and was able to cook three more times with the same charcoal. That’s pretty amazing.
The firebox divider allows you to split the fire-box area to create two distinct cooking zones for simultaneous direct and indirect cooking. Also, conserve the amount of natural lump charcoal used for smaller cooks. This is really great when I’m only cooking a small amount of meat and don’t need the entire grill. Purchase here.
The heat defector plates convert your grill into an oven, a roaster and a smoker. Use the ceramic Heat Deflector Plates in conjunction with the Heat Deflector Racks. I used these plates when I smoked my ribs for 8 hours to help with keeping the heat low and smoking rather than cooking too quickly. The rest on top of the heat deflector racks under the actually grill grates. I’m planning on smoking a brisket soon and will also use these for that. Purchase here.

The Grate Lifter allows you to easily remove your cooking grate or any of our racks from the grill with the Grate/Rack Lifter. Constructed of chrome-plated steel for years of use.
